  Kites: learn, create and fly
 

Indian Museum in collaboration with Craft council of West Bengal, Kolkata organized a workshop on Kite making, titled ‘Kites: learn, create and fly’ from 17 to 20 November 2011 in the central courtyard of Indian Museum. Kite flying show was arranged on the roof-top of the main Museum building on 22 and 24 November 2011. Students from various institutions, viz. University of Calcutta, Government Art College and citizens of Kolkata attended the said the aforesaid workshop.

 

 
  Indian Bead Technology: An Intangible Heritage of India
 

A two day workshop on ‘Indian Bead Technology: An Intangible Heritage of India’ was organized by Indian Museum between 14.12.2011 and 15.12.2011. Prof. R. K. Mohanty and Dr Tilak Thakuriya from Deccan College , Pune, Prof. K. K. Basa, Utkal University, former Director, Indian Museum, delivered lectures on the relevant topic in Indian Bead Technology. Artisans from Khambar Gujrat, demonstrated Indian Bead making technology. Students from various institutions viz. University of Calcutta, Government Art College and citizens of Kolkata attended the said the aforesaid workshop. The flying of Phanus (hot air balloon) from the roof top of the main museum building was also organized by the officers of the museum on 25 November 2011 displaying the logo of Indian Museum in the air. The students of Government Art College, Kolkata and the students of selected schools from West Bengal participated in this programme. The staff of Indian Museum also participated in the programme, the function ended with a festive mood.

 

 
  Continuity of Terracotta, Art
 

On the occasion of 198th Anniversary, Indian Museum organized two-day workshop on “Continuity of Terracotta, Art” from 3 February to 4 February 2012, in the Archaeological Garden, Indian Museum. Students from various institutions viz. University of Calcutta, selected schools, Government Art College and citizens of Kolkata attended the said the aforesaid workshop. The workshop was conducted by Sri N. C. Mondal, Head, Modelling Unit, Indian Museum.
