The gallery shows the architectural remains - railings and the only surviving gateway; the Eastern gateway known as “Torana” from a place called Bharhut in the Satna district, Madhya Pradesh. This belongs to the Sunga period, which was excavated by Sir Alexander Cunningham in 1873. Carved out of red sandstone, display reliefs like -

Popular folk deities like nagas and naginis Next to Bharhut remains, there are fragment of railings (some cast replica and some original) from Bodhgaya, belongs to 1st Century BCE. This used to encircle the Bodhi tree under which Lord Buddha attained his enlightenment.
